Co-Leader, The Rosenberg Sackin Team
Before becoming one of Brooklyn’s most trusted real estate professionals, Dr. Jan Rosenberg spent nearly 30 years as a Sociology professor at LIU’s Brooklyn campus, researching neighborhood decline and resurgence in areas like Park Slope, Fort Greene, Red Hook, and Bedford-Stuyvesant. Her academic work gave her a unique, long-view perspective on how communities evolve and a deep commitment to the people who live in them.
That commitment led Jan to take a more hands-on role in her own neighborhood of Ditmas Park. In 2001, she founded Friends of Cortelyou to help revitalize the local commercial strip, and in 2004, she launched Brooklyn Hearth Realty, a boutique real estate firm grounded in community values and neighborhood expertise. When Douglas Elliman acquired Brooklyn Hearth in 2017, Jan brought her deep local knowledge, loyal client base, and strong community ties into one of the largest brokerages in the country.
Jan now co-leads The Rosenberg Sackin Team at Douglas Elliman, consistently recognized as one of the company’s top-performing small teams. She first connected with her business partner, Erika Sackin, in 2006 when Erika bought her first co-op with Jan’s help. Years later, the two joined forces professionally, combining Jan’s market insight and community leadership with Erika’s design sensibility and operational precision to deliver a warm, strategic, and results-driven experience.
Whether you're a first-time buyer or a longtime homeowner, Jan brings unmatched knowledge, steady guidance, and a tireless commitment to helping you move with confidence.
